Pathfinders are guides who scout ahead to show others a path. As pathfinders, we believe that the Gospel of our Christ Jesus is a guide for us to traverse through the lives of students. The Pathfinders ministry of 7th to 12th graders is a community that works to be reunited with God’s love and His mission on Earth. Through God’s grace, we can embark on a journey to become more like Jesus, no matter the starting point!
Saturday Night Youth Group (7:00-9:00 pm AACCC)
Pathfinders Youth Group is a weekly program catering to all students seeking connection with each other and a deeper relationship with Jesus, maybe even for the first time. We spend time in games, worship, snacks, and an applicable but faith-challenging message to provide students with a means to build a deeper relationship with God. We offer a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers and students to grow closer to each other and to our Heavenly Father.
Sunday School Program (9:30-11:00 am at Carrot Way Community Center)
Our Sunday School Program is located across the road at Carrot Way Community Center (31 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor, MI 48105), and is a weekly offering that delves deeper into the study and application God’s word. Although the topics are often challenging, they encourage student ownership of their faith and practically living out God’s will on Earth. Through prayer, bible reading, and small group discussions, we can become better equipped to glorify God in our actions and serve as pathfinders on the journey towards Christ.
Events and Missions
Winter Retreats (Camp Barakel and Ice Camp): These winter retreats help us grow in faith of God as well as find solace in a Christ-like community. We also enjoy activities such as sledding, tubing, broomball, fellowship, and wonderful messages.
- Summer Missions (Lifechangers Brightmoor): Volunteering for a mere week in Inner-city Detroit works miracles in cleaning up a broken neighborhood and spreading the unconditional love of Jesus in Backyard Bible Club. Transforming a desolate landscape of torn apart families and deteriorating properties not only displays God’s love in these affected people’s lives, but also changes the lives of our youth.
- International Missions (Eagle’s Nest, Guatemala & Imperio de Amor, Mexico): Caring for the least of these, widows and orphans is a mission we are all called to serve. Despite travelling outside of our comfort zones, providing physical, emotional, and spiritual care is a most life-changing experience. You never know what poverty is until you’ve held a fragile child in your lap and wondered how that can smile through the storm. This is through God’s love and healing that we all experience on a missions trip. Our experiences in both Guatemala and Mexico have humbled us and have caused a paradigm shift in worldview.
- Volunteering Locally (Food Gatherer’s, Salvation Army, and more): Because we are so blessed, committing a bit of time and energy for the betterment of others is just one way we express God’s love. Whether it is sorting brussel sprouts and frozen meat at Food Gatherer’s or serving breakfast to the homeless, we can spread that unconditional love across the community.
- Group Bonding Activities (Minute 2 Win it, 30 Hour Famine, Movie Nights): Through these fun events, we can construct a vibrant Christian community and strengthen our relationship with God. In small group events like Minute 2 Win it, we can draw closer to a small group through minigame competition, while in large group events like Movie Nights, we can seek fellowship as a whole group enjoying a movie.
- Outreach (Amazing Race, Church Picnic): We also work to spread the go throughout our Ann Arbor community. With the world in such a tumultuous state, we’d like to offer a haven through God’s awesome effects on both ourselves and others. Through a variety of events, we can invite newcomers to receive salvation in God and fellowship with other believers.
